    Psalm 103

"The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love." September 30, 2017
I, for one, am very glad that our God is a loving and gracious God. In Psalm 103:10 it says "He does not deal with us according to our sins..." - something else to be grateful for! In Christ we see the grace of God fully laid out before us. That we have a Savior who takes our sins upon Himself, and welcomes us to have fellowship with Him. I am...

"The Tongue... a World of Evil..."

    September 17, 2017
    James 3:6

"The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell."

Whoa! We are ALL in trouble! We say things unthinkingly, or out of anger, and can be the cause of great harm and pain.

    James 3:10 "Out of the...

    "What about that tongue..."

    September 10, 2017
This week I started preaching on James 3 - all about the problems of the tongue - what we say, how we say it, how loudly we say things and in what tone of voice.  Obviously it was a problem in Jame's day, and is in our day as well.  I can think of no other issue that hurts more (and does more damage) than an out of control...

    Announcing.....

New Series: The Book of James May 7, 2017
This month we will be starting our preaching series on the Book of James.

There is a lot of material to cover in this book, and I hope you will follow along. This week I begin with James 1:1-3, talking about the trials we all face in life, and how God wants us to respond to his his loving care in the middle of the difficult things that...

    A TIME TO REFLECT

    February 18, 2017
When I was taking a course called CPE -Clinical Pastoral Education, one of the things we did every day was to write a "reflection" of what happened during the day in our interactions with people in a counseling situation. It was one way to have others in the class listen to your reflection and help you see things you might miss.  I must...

    A NEW YEAR....

    January 2, 2017
A very happy NEW YEAR! to all our Church Family, and everyone who reads this. We are grateful to God for another year of service to our Savior.
I began the New Year at Church with a sermon on Nehemiah 3 (my current series), and observed that chapter 3 contents are the names of individuals and groups of people who helped in rebuilding the...

    Back to the task

    September 2, 2016

A lot has happened in our household these last several months. My wife and I became grandparents for the first time! Praise God for a beautiful grand daughter! Kelly Mae.    Also, one of my daughters earned her Doctorate in Psychology and has started her first job as a Psychologist for a mid-western University. My wife and I celebrated our 45th year of marriage on August 21... and I officiated at a wedding of a young couple on that date as well!  We took some time off to recharge and renew.  And now we are back in the saddle.  So much to be grateful for!

May the Lord bless you and your family as we begin this school year.

    Really Amazing Grace

    May 17, 2016
I started my doctrinal series of sermons with the concept of GRACE.  There are so many aspects to this word, but I began by talking about the Sovereign Hand of God in doing His work of Grace in our lives, first of all in salvation and then in our practical experience of daily living. J.I. Packer was very careful in his book "Knowing God" to...
