    Causes of emotional suffering:

     

    A sense of injustice. Job 19:7 - “...There is no justice.”

     

    Frustration. Job 19:8 “...I cannot pass”

     

    Loss. John 11:35 – Jesus experienced loss.

     

    Bereavement. 2 Sam 18:33 – David grieves Absalom

     

    Childlessness. 1 Sam. 1:4-8 - Hannah wept about her childlessness.

     

    Parting of loved ones. Acts 20:38 – Paul leaves his friends.

     

    Guilt. Hebrews 10:2 - “...guilty for sins”

     

     

    God's response to our emotional suffering.

     

    COMFORT – 2 Cor 1:3-4 “The God of all comfort...”

     

    DELIVERS US THROUGH CHRIST. Isa 53:4 - “He carried our sorrows”

     

    JESUS GIVES US REST. John 14:1 “Let not your hears be troubled”

     

    NO SUFFERING IN ETERNITY Rev. 21:4 - “He will wipe away every tear”

     

     

    The proper response of believers to emotional suffering.

     

    Assessing the problem before God.

    Psm 73:16-17 “I entered the sanctuary...”

    Psm 119:78 “I will meditate on your precepts”

    Romans 8:28 “more than conquerors”

     

    Self control of our emotions.

    Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

    Psalm 62:8 “Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. Selah

     

    Prayer.

    Heb. 5:7 – Jesus prayed in times of trouble.

    James 5:13 “Is anyone in trouble? He should pray...”

    Psalm 77:1-9 “I cried out to God for help...”

     

    Continue to do what is right.
